If you are exploring high school options for a student,
and would like to speak with someone about Saint Mary's, please contact our Registrar, Julie Farrell, at (602) 251-2504. If you are transferred to voice mail, clearly leave your name, phone number, and student grade, and someone will return your call.
For eighth grade students, we sponsor two Eighth Grade Days in October. Catholic schools are invited to these events and arrangements are made at the school level. For other eighth graders, please call 602-251-2545 to make a reservation so that we can plan accordingly. We ask that all students be accompanied by an adult. The day is designed for students and focuses on student interests. Lunch will be served and the day ends with a pep assembly.
For parents of prospective students at every level, we sponsor a formal Open House each November. The Open House includes an opening presentation and a tour of the campus, with new presentations throughout the afternoon. Faculty, coaches, and parents of current students will be available. Although the day is designed for parents, students are welcome to attend.
The application process for freshmen begins with the High School Placement Test (Entrance Exam).
Scheduled test dates are offered in January and May each year (no pre-registration is required).
All test takers should arrive at our Main Office by 7:45 on the morning of the test day. The test will take approximately four hours. A testing fee of $35 will be charged. The testing fee is due on the day the test is taken.
This test is given by all diocesan high schools. Saint Mary's will accept test scores for a student if the test was taken at another high school.

Some Comments On The Entrance Exam
All students seeking admission to Saint Mary's High School must take the High School Placement Test (Entrance Exam). This test is given by all diocesan high schools. A test fee of $35 is charged. No pre-registration is required. The four hour test will be given on its scheduled date with a 7:45 start time. Saint Mary's will accept test scores for a student if the test was taken at another high school. On the day of the test, you will have the option to send your test score to three different schools.
Admissions Process after the Entrance Exam
Test takers are sent home with materials to be completed by appropriate school personnel at the student's current elementary/junior high school. These forms must be returned to Saint Mary's in a timely fashion.
The Saint Mary's Admissions Committee meets shortly after the deadline. The Committee uses the High School Placement Test scores, information on forms completed by elementary/junior high school personnel, teacher/administrator recommendations, and prior standardized scores. Some students may be invited for an interview. Admission decisions are mailed to applicants during the first week of March, together with information on dates and procedures for Freshman Registration Day. Registration materials are not mailed out.
