Admissions CriteriaStudents interested in attending Saint Mary's Catholic High School must meet the following criteria:•The applicant's successful completion of 8th grade. •The applicant's expressed positive desire to attend Saint Mary's•A minimum grade point average of 2.50 in core academic subjects in the two school years prior to attending Saint Mary's. •Satisfactory performance on the High School Placement Test administered at Saint Mary's •Recommendations from current teachers and school administrators. Priority is given to applicants graduating from Catholic schools, Catholic families, children of Saint Mary's alumnae, and siblings. Final decisions regarding admissions rest with the Principal, after reviewing the recommendations of the Admissions Committee.Admissions ProcessApplication packets are available to prospective freshmen and transfer students. These packets may be obtained in the main office or downloaded online here.Applications from transfer students are accepted for consideration for admission in the fall semester each year. Transfer students must complete the transfer application, obtain evaluations from current teachers, and submit a copy of their school transcript that includes third quarter grades from their current year.All students who wish to apply to Saint Mary's must take the standardized High School Placement Test (HSPT) entrance exam. This exam is used by all Diocesan high schools in Arizona. 2012 HSPT dates:•Saturday, January 7, 2012 7:30 am - 11:30 am•Saturday, January 21, 2012 7:30 am - 11:30 amThe online application includes a transcript release form that must be signed by a parent or guardian. The application also includes teacher recommendation forms, and questions to be completed by the student. The Admissions committee uses the HSPT scores, transcript and recommendation information provided by the grade/junior high school, as well as 7th and 8th grade standardized test scores in order to make admissions decisions. Applications are due February 15, 2012. Letters of acceptance will be mailed by March 2, 2012. Interested students are encouraged to attend one of two "8th Grade Days" to visit the campus and see firsthand what Saint Mary's has to offer. In addition, parents are invited to attend "Open House" and "Information Nights" to learn more about the school and community. Students are welcome to "shadow" a student during a school day to experience student life first hand.
